I, ladies and gentlemen, will be a brunette bride. I have tossed between the two over the years so there really is no STAPLE haircolor for me... And when asked what my natural color is, I blush when I respond "I haven't a clue - it's a dark something or another".
And based on the fact I had a hair appointment last night I had to make that decision yesterday... Here's why:
Fact: Engagement pictures are in October
Fact: For engagement pictures, there should be some similarity between my looks cosmetically even if the settings are complete polar opposites.
Fact: If I am going dark for fall, in order for it to look good in October a flat color is needed now and highlights added later.
Fact: I cannot get my hair done more than once every 8 weeks (it'll fall out).
So going dark is a two-step process meaning that if that's what I wanted for wedding, then I needed to start now for engagement pictures... Looks like my blonde days are over, at least for now.
Shew! I feel like a woman!
Furthermore, I am looking for a girly-buddy to help me:
- Get my skin looking better (less acne, more glow)
- Get my teeth looking better
- Get my body looking slimmer
BUT I am not looking to spend half a fortune on salon treatments in the interim...
So, who's volunteering?
I'm a friend of Karen's...
ReplyDeletefor slimmer...there's the obvious increase workouts, but they sell these fabulous slimming slips. ;) All brides wear them, even those who are a size 0. Some stretching/yoga/pilates/dance type workouts will help lengthen your muscles and appearance (or so they claim).
skin - drink water and green tea. Daily diet needs to include more than 64 oz of water and at least 2 cups of green tea. It's my favorite acne control b/c it works and is soooo easy, and you just substitute out unhealthy drinks with water and tea, which also cuts calories! Some days it's hard to get that much liquid down, but when I start slipping for a couple days, I can tell. The great thing is results are soooo fast, within days you can see and feel an improvement. :)
Good luck! And don't forget regular deep conditioning for your hair. regular coloring is really dehydrating.
Oh, and don't worry...you'll have that glow on your wedding day regardless
PS - teeth: crest white strips, the advanced ones, are awesome. You can use them every 6 months, I think. I'd start 12 months prior (or just prior to your engagement session!!), then 6 months from now, and then stagger one such that it ends a few days before your wedding (sometimes they make people's teeth sensitive, so you want to give yourself a few days to get back to no issues in case you are one of those people. They don't bother me but do bother my sister).
ReplyDeletea great sonic type toothbrush - crest or sonicare, are both great between whitenings. I've heard of other methods, but for $30 bucks every 6 months, whitestrips are just too easy and too good!
makeup tip: I did my own for my wedding (saves $$!). To prep, though, (I use bare essentials)I went to one of their stores and had them do a "makeover", but with all the colors/makeup I currently own or went in to purchase. A friend clued me in about their primers and they are fabulous! both their prime time and their eye lid one.
